OC Zine Fest
Synapse shared youth perspectives on mental health and wellness through handmade zines. These zines are now circulating at the Anaheim Central Library and the Long Beach Public Library.
Gifts sent to CHOC Children's Neurology Clinic
We gifted over 470 items to the neurology clinic at CHOC Children's, including booklets with cognitive exercises and brain research, pencils, brain erasers, and calligraphy cards. Our cards were handmade, presenting motivational calligraphy and fun facts about the brain.
Purple Fundraiser
We organized a purple fundraiser as part of our Longest Day campaign to advance Alzheimer's research and support groups. We see our funds in action at Painting with Mom, where patients with Alzheimer's enjoy a free painting workshop.
Brain Health Fair
Synapse was invited to Brain Health Fair 2018 at the LA Convention Center. A great setting to learn about brain science and brain health. We met hundreds of people from UK to India, from Chicago to Los Angeles, and it was a great way to connect with the community. Looking forward to future national and international collaborations!

Volunteers painted along with participants in a fun-filled morning, discussing the importance of perspective and confidence in any situation.
Brain Awareness Exhibit
We designed a neuroscience exhibit at the Cerritos Library in celebration of Brain Awareness Week. The new, interactive exhibit explored topics like neurological disorders, psychology, advancements in neuroscience, neuroanatomy, and neuroethics. Instructional pamphlets, activity booklets, and unique stationary like brain-shaped erasers and pencils were offered to visitors.
March 12–18 Declared Brain Awareness Week in Cerritos
Mayor Pro Tem Mark Pulido presented Synapse the proclamation on behalf of the Cerritos City Council, proclaiming March 12–18 as Brain Awareness Week.

Synapse Launches Brainstorm
Synapse launched the first neuroscience workshops for elementary school students in the community. The four month course integrates cognitive exercises, experiments, and activities to teach students about the brain and nervous system.
Painting with Mom
Synapse members painted with participants at the Saturday session, capturing special moments through photography and conversing with Alzheimer's patients about peace and wellness.
Purple Fundraiser
We hosted a successful fundraiser to raise money for Alzheimer's research and support groups. Why a purple fundraiser? Purple is the color for Alzheimer's outreach!
Painting with Mom
Today marks the launch of a new volunteering partnership with Blue Sea Care, a center that provides services for individuals with Alzheimer's disease. Participants are encouraged to bring their caregivers to promote self-care and creative expression.

Synapse Display at Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC)
Synapse contributed pamphlets and stationary to develop the display at CHOC's Neuroscience Institute. A wonderful way of educating and exciting patients!

Collaboration with Pre-Med Club
Synapse was invited to present at a Pre-Med Club meeting. At the meeting, members of Pre-Med found out about volunteer opportunities and made model neurons! (see Involvement in Pics)
Launched Brain Injury Center Volunteering Program
Synapse partnered with B.R.A.I.N. to give high school students the opportunity to form lasting friendships with brain injury survivors.
